When a close friend revealed his struggle with the crippling fear of others' judgment, it struck a chord with me. His tale of wrestling with debt to save a sinking business purely for appearances served as a catalyst for a deeper conversation on our latest episode. We peel back the layers on why we often cling to the familiar, even when it no longer serves us, and how braving the unknown can be the secret to unlocking a world of potential and prosperity.

This heart-to-heart not only uncovered hidden fears but also highlighted the transformative power of embracing change. Sharing my own experience of selling a beloved business to embark on a new venture, I examine the challenges and triumphs of letting go. We contemplate the incredible impact of visualizing a vibrant future to shed our old skins and courageously step into new beginnings, much like my friend did, ultimately finding success and satisfaction beyond his expectations. Join us as we unravel the stories that reflect our collective journey towards growth and fulfillment.

Speaker 1:

Shading the skin. What does that mean to you? Have you ever really reflected on what you do every single day? Have you ever really asked why am I doing this every single day? Who is it for? Is it really for me?

Speaker 1:

Why I bring this up is it was a conversation that I had with a friend of mine not that long ago over a coffee, and he told me how he had kept his business open for 18 months longer than he ever should have. Now. This ended up with him in debt, literally into the hundreds of thousands, and he said something that I think everyone possibly fears at some point in their lives and in their business, and that was what will people think if we close. Everyone possibly fears at some point in their lives and in their business, and that was what will people think if we close. What will people think if we close? Now? How crazy is that that we as human beings will let stress, worry, panic, health problems occur and build up unimaginable deaths just because of being afraid of what others might think of us, how we might look in other people's eyes if we decided to do what we often know we want to do and often know that we need to do See, to shed the skin is to give way to the old so that we can actually allow the new to come in in all its abundance. So often, we simply need to let go of what doesn't match that future version of ourselves that we want to become and to have faith that, when we do this, that we actually allow space for new energy to arrive. That new energy can bring us something even greater than what the former version of ourself could ever imagine, just like it has for my friend in this story. When he opened himself up to new opportunities, he couldn't imagine that those opportunities would have came when he was stuck in the weeds, keeping a business open just because of what other people might have thought if he closed it down. Now he learned a massive lesson from that, of course, and it's something that I want to share with you, because I learned a massive lesson listening that, of course, and it's something that I want to share with you because I learned a massive lesson listening to that story. So I want to share this story with you because so many people do it.

Speaker 1:

It might not be a business that you're stuck on, but it could be a job, it could be a career. It could be a relationship that you're staying in because of what other people might think, what other people might say about you. If you were to make a decision for yourself, you might be stuck in a job or career because, again, of what other people's expectations are of you but not your own. So what if you decided to shed the skin? What if you decided to do what's right for you? What if you decided to step into that future version of yourself?

Speaker 1:

How could you allow the space to actually allow new energy, new abundance to arrive and their life? And I get it. I get it 100, because sometimes we just we get stuck doing the same thing over and over again, because it's the norm, it's what we've always done, it's comfortable and it's a repeated result that we know that we can depend on time and time again. I know this from first-hand experience. I did it myself this year, leaving a business and selling a business that I've had for 12 years to step into something not totally new, but step into something that I'm beginning to build again. I had to suspend fear, I had to lean into faith and I had to take that step into what I really want to create and how I really want to move forward in my life and in my business.

Speaker 1:

So, as Einstein said, imagination is more important than knowledge. So what if you dared to imagine even more for yourself in your life? What does that actually look like? What does it feel like? Who is it with, where is it and what are you doing? Just like my friend did, he was willing to shed the old skin so that he could move into a new chapter in his life and in his business, and now he's reaping the rewards because of that. So what I want to end this short podcast on is how can you begin to do the same? How could you begin to imagine something different for yourself? Could you begin to imagine something different for yourself? Maybe you need to make decisions for you instead of for other people, and maybe you need to give up the thought of what will other people think instead of asking what do you actually really want and how can you make that happen?
